Saioa Aginako

Saioa Aginako is a Basque illustrator. She studied illustration at the Escola Massana in (Barcelona) and at ISIA Urbino (Italy). Enthusiastic about every detail, from the tiniest frog, to the textures created by the bark of different trees, to the variation of colour in the reflections of water. This connection can be seen in her illustrations, full of colour and versatility, which create unique and sensitive environments. Childhood, the folklore of different peoples and the simplicity of everyday life are other sources of inspiration for her work. He likes to compose in flat colours and work in screen printing and risography. In 2024 his work ‘When the wind rises’ is longlisted for the WIA (World Illustration Awards). In 2025 her series ‘It all started with corn’ received special mention in the 16th catalogue Iberoamerica Ilustra. Her series of illustrations ‘In search of the tiger’ is longlisted in the Bologna Children Book Fair 2025.
